Winter sun for less
Everyone heads to the Canaries for winter sun. Grab a cuppa, and I’ll show you how I get warm weather in November for less: when I go, where I look, and how I book.

“I never go in school holidays. That’s an absolute given. Prices are really inflated because that’s the only time children are off.”
Got kids? Book as early as you can, and look at the first or last days of the holidays.
“It’s worth checking when the children are off locally too. Somewhere like Florida or America, it’s not a great time to go, because you’re dealing with local tourists as well as the usual ones. This applies to lots of places.”

How the flights and the weather compare in November

What the numbers say: Tunisia (about 3h 05m) and Marrakech (about 3h 45m) are clearly shorter flights than the Canaries (4h 15m to Lanzarote, 4h 35m to Tenerife South or Gran Canaria). Agadir (about 3h 55m) is only around 20 minutes shorter than Lanzarote. On temperature, the Canaries are a little warmer in November (about 24-25°C), Morocco is close behind (23-24°C), and Tunisia is a few degrees cooler at about 21°C, with more rain (about 6 wet days in the month), so pack a layer for evenings.
Flight times are scheduled block times for November 2026 non-stop flights from Gatwick: Airline Information: Gatwick route schedules (easyJet, BA, Jet2), updated 6 Aug 2026 (also NBE: Karen’s own booking, 3h 10m out, 3h 15m back). Temperatures are mean daily maximums for November, WMO 1991-2020 climate normals (NOAA NCEI), from the airport or nearest station named. Averages, not forecasts.
Karen’s tipAlways check the transfer time
“A short flight isn’t the whole story. I once had a short flight to Majorca, then nearly two hours on the coach transfer. So I’d always check how long the transfer to your hotel takes.”
Hammamet example: the airport lists Hammamet as 48 km and about 27 minutes’ drive from Enfidha-Hammamet Airport by taxi (TAV, Enfidha-Hammamet Airport). A shared coach transfer takes longer because it stops at other hotels, so allow extra time.

“I book a package, for example with easyJet holidays. It’s often cheaper than booking everything separately, and the baggage and transfers are included.”
A plus: package holidays with flights sold by UK travel companies are covered by ATOL protection, so you’re not left stranded or out of pocket if the company fails. Karen’s booking confirmation says it’s ATOL and ABTA protected; check yours says the same.

“I always used to wait for promo codes. This time I booked anyway, and a week later the same deal with a code cost more than I’d paid. Now if I’m happy with the price, I book it.”
