What we collect today
Very little, and nothing that identifies you. This preview has no analytics, no cookies and no tracking scripts. The newsletter form is disabled. Two small things are stored:
- Town searches: we count which places are searched (no personal data) to decide which guides to write next. We store only the date, the country, the town name and a count. No IP address, cookie or identifier is stored with it.
- Feedback you choose to send: the “Did PackToWear help your trip?” form stores your answers and the date. We don’t ask for your email and don’t store your IP address. Your first name and town are kept only if you tick the box allowing us to publish them, and we only publish comments after checking them by hand. To have your comment removed, email [email protected] with roughly when you sent it and what it said.
To stop floods of spam, our server counts requests per connection in short-lived memory for up to an hour. This isn’t written to storage. Ticks in Plan my trip are saved only in your own browser (localStorage).
Live weather forecasts
Destination guides show a “This week in…” forecast. Your browser asks our own server for the forecast for that destination, and our server fetches it from MET Norway. For the quick guide to any town, it also fetches climate averages from NASA’s POWER service. We only send MET Norway or NASA the place’s coordinates, never anything about you, and we don’t log or store these requests.
Links to other sites
Links to retailers, airlines and sources take you to their websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Before launch
If we add a newsletter provider, analytics or affiliate tracking, this page will name each provider, explain what it collects and why, and say how to opt out, in line with UK GDPR and PECR.
